A few photos from the Year 12 A Level PE visit to the University of Essex last week. The students had a great time in the labs, taking part in different activities to support the topics they have covered in Exercise Physiology. The students tried different tasks and applied different psychological theories to try to improve their performances. The afternoon session focussed on Sport Psychology. Miss Fentiman particularly enjoyed the mid thigh pull test!

Our recent Careers Week included representatives from a number of different sectors including Law, Medicine, Banking, Emergency services and Graphic Design. Each completed a presentation and question and answer session which were well received by the students.
Big Interview Day Friday 10th March 2023
As part of the National Careers Week, Presdales organised invaluable mock interviews for all our Year 10 students. It was a very enjoyable day with excellent participation and interaction from the students. The feedback, from the external interviewers, was extremely positive. This will definitely be repeated going forward as it proved to be a very beneficial session for all concerned.
Our Year 10 GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition students took part in the Tunnock’s Teacake Challenge during their practical lessons this half term. The food styling challenge was to produce a plate with a focus on the presentation of a Tunnock’s Teacake to the theme of “Patterns and Shapes”. The students were encouraged to create a piece of culinary art using their artistic creativity and food preparation skills.
We were looking for the most stunning plate created. Marks were awarded for creativity, presentation and using a variety of technical skills. Our students demonstrated various high level skills including making their own honeycomb, fruit coulis and piping.
Due to the strength of the entrees it was difficult for our guest judges, Food & Textiles teachers Mrs Dray and Mrs Finch, to pick the winners. Our top four students were 1st place Darcey Cumberland, 2nd place Immie Baldwin and joint 3rd place Annabella Johnson and Alice Lynn. Darcey will be entered into the national competition to represent Presdales and we wish her all the best.

On Friday 3rd March, in celebration of World Book Day, teachers and Year 7 students dressed up as some of their favourite book characters. Harry Potter, Katniss, Dorothy, Ms Trunchball were just some of the characters that graced the halls of Presdales. Mr Samways even came as William Shakespeare, while Mr Warren was the infamous Batman!

Congratulations to the Year 10 A and B teams who both won their individual district netball tournaments last week! Both teams displayed excellent team work and skill with neither of them losing a game!
Star players were Tonye Ikeyina and Sophie Wilson!
Sportshall Athletics
Year 8 are District Sportshall Champions! Year 7’s 3rd place!!!
What a great achievement! Well done to everyone who competed in the final last week!
Football
Well done to the Year 8 football team who finished runners-up in the District 6-a-side tournament this week. The girls were very unlucky not to win the tournament. They had won all 4 games leading to the Final, scored the most goals and hadn’t conceded once. However, in the Final we just couldn’t find the net despite completely dominating the game. The girls hit the post, they hit the bar and forced a number of good saves but just couldn’t score. Unfortunately, we then lost on penalties…., but that’s football!
I was proud of the girls level of performance and the quality they showed. Presdales were clearly the best team in the tournament. Coaches Player of the Tournament is Julia Dodd who showed her skill, versatility and tenacity throughout, however all the girls were star players!
Also, special mention for some brilliant forward play from Mia who scored 8 goals! Mia showed some beautiful controlled finishing that a top premiership striker would be proud of!
Cricket
Well done to our U16 cricket team who, in a really tough tournament pool, showed excellent resilience and team work. The girls should be super proud of their performances.
Star Player was Georgiana Fowler.
