Our Vision
Life in the Sixth Form is lively, stimulating and full of opportunities. We offer 28 subjects at A level and so are able to provide students with a broad curriculum. The Sixth Form Centre at Presdales is separate to the main school complex in the Mansion Building and is comprised of a spacious common room, an independent study room, and many classrooms.
Relationships between staff and students are warm and supportive. Students who were with us for Year 11 maintain previous friendships and all students take opportunities to establish new friendships through their new subject classes, as well as in their tutor groups. Students in Years 12 and 13 are given many opportunities to mix, particularly through the form time enrichment sessions. The level of care, guidance and support for all students is outstanding. They rightly feel that they are part of an amazing community which has so much to offer.
The Sixth Form students contribute enormously to the quality of our community by showing a sense of responsibility, an interest in learning for its own sake, and an understanding of the value of service and team work. Every Year 12 student is expected to volunteer at least once a week and can choose to do this in school or at Pinewood. Our Senior Student team are in the process of developing a community outreach project that we are particularly excited about. Students grow in maturity and are fully supported in preparing for adult life, higher education or the workplace.
The majority of students stay on at Presdales after Year 11. In addition, students join us from a range of other schools to take advantage of the broad range of A Level subjects on offer here and our excellent track record of results. Since 1999 we have welcomed boys into our Sixth Form. We have been delighted with their involvement in the Sixth Form and the school as a whole and look forward to continuing to see a growing number join us.
Our vision is clear: we aim to be a centre of excellence where all students are passionate about their learning and driven to achieve. Indeed our recent results show 83% of students achieving A*–C grades in their A level studies with 26% achieving A/A* grades.
