Sixth Form Leadership
We provide opportunities for students to take leadership roles within the school
Senior Student Team
The school elects a Senior Team of students, including Head Boy/Girl, a Deputy Head Boy/Girl and 6 senior students, and their roles focus on both the Sixth Form and school as a whole. In addition, a Head of House is appointed for each of the 6 Houses and these students, along with a Deputy Head of House who is recruited from the new Year 12s in September, will lead the House for the next academic year. Positions are taken up by the successful Year 12 students in the Summer of Year 12 and last for a year. They are regularly asked to represent the school on many varying occasions.
Subject Prefects and Teaching Support
Sixth Formers also have numerous opportunities to help elsewhere in the school. We encourage you to take responsibility, perhaps as a Subject Prefect where you will be providing teaching support for children in the lower part of the school.
School Councils and Sports Opportunities
We also have an elected School Council, with members across the whole school. Many clubs and societies require Sixth Form help and leadership and teachers frequently look to Sixth Formers to help them set up new activities and run clubs. Some students can also develop their leadership through involvement in sports teams, helping out with younger teams or through the Sports Leadership programme.
Head Girl
I am delighted to be this year’s Head Girl and look forward to representing the school and working with the senior student team in the year ahead.
Currently I am studying Biology, Chemistry and PE with the view to study Sport and Exercise Science at university next year. Presdales has offered me so much since joining in year 7 and has always provided a fantastic range of opportunities, including the Duke of Edinburgh Award, the German and French trips, and a variety of sports to take part in. Presdales has been a huge factor in developing my confidence as well as helping me achieve academically, socially and in sports.
I would encourage every student to take advantage of all the opportunities available to them, to make the most of their time at Presdales.
I have thoroughly enjoyed being at Presdales and as Head Girl look forward to what the academic year ahead will bring. I am excited to work with an amazing team of senior students to ensure the best for everyone at Presdales and look forward to giving back to the Presdales community that has given me so much over the years.
Hannah Stapleton
Deputy Head Student
I’m delighted to introduce myself as your new Deputy Head Girl and I look forward to getting to know you all over the next year. At the moment, I’m studying Politics, Sociology, and Philosophy and Ethics at A level and I’m looking to continue with Philosophy at university.
I encourage you to grab any opportunity Presdales offers you with both hands! Throughout my time here, I’ve been able to enjoy a World Challenge expedition to Norway, make music with talented players in different ensembles, travel to Russia to test my language skills, hike the Hertfordshire countryside on my Duke of Edinburgh expedition and explore my passion for human rights through entering the Newnham Essay Prize competition for Philosophy. There is no better way to make friends, have fun and learn new skills; Presdales offers such a range of opportunities, so anyone can find something that suits them.
Currently, I’m running Presdales Pride Club as part of my LGBTQ+ rights campaign with Amnesty International. Pride Club is a safe and inclusive space for all students to meet new people and learn about the LGBTQ+ community. All of my free resources, as well as helplines, are available on my website here: www.prideschool.co.uk In addition, I conduct the strings group, lead the school orchestra and I have established a school recorder group – just for fun.
If you ever want to find me or share any ideas you have to improve the school, don’t hesitate to find me in the music block, at pride club, or send me an email at: 16waring.charlie@presdales.herts.sch.uk
