The school elects a Senior Team of students, including Head Boy/Girl, a Deputy Head Boy/Girl and senior students, and their roles focus on both the Sixth Form and school as a whole. In addition, a Head of House is appointed for each of the 6 Houses and these students, along with a Deputy Head of House who is recruited from the new Year 12s in September, will lead the House for the next academic year. Head of House positions are then taken up by the Year 12 Deputy Head of House students in the summer of Year 12 and last for a year. They are regularly asked to represent the school on many varying occasions. Sixth Formers also have numerous opportunities to help elsewhere in the school. We encourage all students to take on an additional responsibility, perhaps as a Subject Prefect, Mental Health Ambassador, Charity Ambassador or Inclusion Ambassador, a new role for this academic year. We also have an elected School Council, with members across the whole school. Many clubs and societies require Sixth Form help and leadership and teachers frequently look to Sixth Formers to help them set up new activities and run clubs. Some students can also develop their leadership through involvement in sports teams, helping out with younger teams or through the Sports Leadership programme. It is a lovely thing to be able to say that I am Head Girl at Presdales. Since being here from Year 7, the way in which I have grown in my behaviour and mindset is largely down to the support I have received from this school, therefore I find that being its Head Girl is the best way to give back to this community. I am currently studying English Literature, Economics and Politics, with an intention of studying Politics and Economics at university. The ways in which Presdales has supported me has often been beyond the classroom, where its scope has encouraged me to engage in extracurricular activities such as playing the violin in orchestra, or being part of the Bar Mock Trial team. This school has fostered a deep sense of curiosity and resilience, which has best been displayed through my EPQ journey and having the opportunity to meet Akshata Murthy in No. 10 Downing Street on a politics trip. The variety of things which I have been able to partake in, purely by attending Presdales, is something which I am so grateful for, and would advise all students to not take for granted. I cannot wait to experience all the things I am about to experience in my time as Head Girl, and I am looking forward to incorporating different ideas from different people on how to improve this incredible school! Deputy Head Boy
The Deputy Head Boy position at Presdales School was something I did not expect along my academic journey. I feel privileged and honoured to take up this position and I look forward to all the duties it has in store for me in the coming year.
I am currently studying PE, Business and Biology for my three A levels which have already given me an excellent insight into what my next step could be, hopefully a business apprenticeship!
As part of my extra-curricular activities, I have participated in Young Enterprise 2022-2023. This provided me with the opportunity to develop a Presdales team business to compete in the selling and marketing of two products against schools in the Watford area. Additionally, I have been a Sports Leader which has allowed me to develop my knowledge of sport and coaching and how it can be developed through practice This included running a boccia tournament in the sports hall for other schools.
Sport has always been a huge part of my life outside of school. I currently play hockey in the National Conference Midlands League for St Albans which has developed my confidence on and off the pitch. I strongly look forward to sharing my sporting knowledge with the school teams that Presdales has in place.
My Presdales journey has only started this year, but I am eager to engage myself in the school community and work with an excellent team of senior students, as well as staff.

Deputy Head Girl
I’m thrilled to be this year’s Deputy Head Girl and look forward to working with the senior student team to assist the school over the course of the academic year. I am currently studying Psychology, Politics and Business Studies at A level with plans to take a gap year following the completion of my A levels, and hope to continue my studies at university following this.
Presdales offers many amazing opportunities that have enabled me to grow as a person and develop my confidence. I have completed both Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh awards and I am proud to be a DofE Young Leader. I also volunteer once a week at Pinewood, the neighbouring secondary school for students with special needs, which I have found has helped me to form bonds with younger pupils of different abilities.
I would encourage everyone to participate in activities and opportunities that are offered to them, even if you haven’t done anything like it before. Doing so helps you feel part of the Presdales community. For me, being a ‘Big Sister’ and Mental Health Ambassador have been extremely rewarding and allowed me to form better connections with students.
I can’t wait to work with the senior student team and look forward to a great year!
