A message of thanks from Emma Walsh, one of our Year 12 Charity Ambassadors:
I wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated to the RATS animal rescue. Overall, we filled 8 refuse bags with donations for them!
I dropped them off at the kennels last Saturday, and the rescue was extremely grateful for all of the towels and blankets, which will be well used by any new rescues they have coming in. Additionally, all of the clothing donated will be sold in their charity shops to raise even more money for them.
I was blown away with the generosity from the school, and so thankful for the opportunity to hold a donation drive for a cause close to my heart, so thank you again for helping me to achieve this.

At the start of November, a group of Sixth Form Senior Students launched their community project to support the Welwyn and Hatfield Women’s Refuge. The project involved asking the Presdales community to donate items that would benefit those who were linked to the refuge. Items such as toiletries, non-perishable foods and games were donated.
On Wednesday 9th December, two people from the refuge came to collect the items and they have invited Presdales to visit the refuge to see how the donations will benefit women and children.

Sixth Form Visit to Riverside Care Home, Ware
On Tuesday 16th December, Mrs Schillaci-Rowland and 10 Year 12 students volunteered to support our local community and visited the Riverside Care Home in Ware. The students entertained the residents by hosting games of Bingo which brought much excitement.
The students took it in turns to call out the numbers, help fill in bingo cards and to ensure that everyone was enjoying themselves. Chocolate treats were given to those who were the first to get a line, and then a full house.
At the end of the session, the residents asked the students to come back as they really enjoyed the afternoon. One of the ladies who works in the Care Home’s Activities Team went to Presdales as a student, and said it was a pleasure to have a strong link with the school, which has been going now for the last two years. We are planning another visit in the Spring Term to play some more games and entertain the residents.

Year 7 will be involved in a ‘Rudolph Run’ during the afternoon on Wednesday 18th December. They will be out of their lesson during period 6 and will be taking part in a fun activity to help to raise money for Isabel Hospice. The students will be asked to complete two laps of the school field dressed in their PE kit, with the option to wear a Christmas jumper, if they would like to, and a set of reindeer antlers. The antlers will be provided by Isabel Hospice for the fun run.
If the weather is too wet for the run to go ahead, we will be holding a ‘Rudolph Dance’ in the Sports Hall instead.

As is tradition at this time of the year, the Charity Ambassadors set up a refreshment stall for the exciting Sixth Form Revue. Well done to the super Charity Ambassadors who set up the stall and ran a very well organised area. Thank you to all of the students who brought from the stall too. An amazing £471.46 will be going towards our School Charity of the Year, the NICU at Princess Alexandra Hospital!
Finally, thank you to all of the students who donated for non-school uniform. If parents would like to make any further donations for non-uniform, please look on Wisepay for ‘non-uniform’, and you can still donate to the charity.
