Netball

U16s

OUR U16 NETBALL TEAM ARE GOING TO NATIONALS!

Wow… girls we are SO proud of you! The girls were undefeated in the group stages progressing to the semi finals in top spot. They won 12-9 in the semi finals against The Perse, securing their place at Nationals. The final was another really tough game against Brentwood in which the girls lost their only game of the whole day 15-10. The way the girls play and flow together is amazing to watch and not only are they an amazing netball team but they are also amazing girls and the way they support one another and represent Presdales is a pleasure to watch. An emotional and exhausting day but wow… Bring on 11th March – NATIONALS!!!

Senior Team

Monday 30th January

Well done to the Senior netball team who participated in the district netball tournament.

The girls came 5th overall despite no training and some of them not playing competitive netball before. The team played really well and brought a good team spirit! Star player was Ashley Buckle.

Thursday 9th February

Congratulations to our Senior netball team who beat St Albans High School last night and are now through to the County Cup Finals!

The team were drawing in the first quarter, but then went down by a few goals in the second and third quarters. The girls really dug deep in the final quarter, especially as they had no subs and fought hard to win 34-32! Star players were Ashley and Cara.

Year 8

Congratulations to the Year 8 Netball team who are through to the County Cup Final! The girls fought hard to beat a strong Heathmount team 22-15.

There were strong performances all over the court from defence through to attack. And the girls demonstrated great resilience to overcome a large and very partisan crowd in the middle 2 quarters of the match. It was close at the start, but the strength in depth of the team shone through and the girls began to pull away in the 3rd quarter.

Well done to all of the girls who played. Star Player as picked by Heathmount was Florrie Pidduck and the Star Player as picked by the coaches was Clemmie Fells.

Year 10

Congratulations to our Year 10 team who beat St Albans High School last night and are now also through to the County Cup Finals!

We were down by a couple of goals in the first quarter but came back strong from the second quarter onwards to win 35-28! Star players were Tonye and Emily!

Well done girls and what an achievement to have all three age groups through to the County Cup Finals!

Hockey

Well done to the ‘Fab 5’ who recently played a 7-a-side game against a mixed John Warner team. You were excellent girls, and it was so competitive even 2 players and a goal keeper down!

Sportshall Athletics

Well done to all of the girls who took part in the LVSSA District Indoor Athletics Champs!

We WON all 3 age groups as well as overall – beating the 2nd place team by over 40 points! GO TEAM!!

Special mention to the following who won their individual events:

Steph Winter – Junior girls shot

Ellie Bostock – Inter girls shot WITH A NEW MEET RECORD OF 13.85

Beth Botheras – Inter girls 300m

Lottie Fellows – Minor girls long jump

Olivia Holme – Junior girls 800m

Martha Ker – Inter girls 800m

Minor girls relay team

Junior girls relay team

Inter girls relay team

A very successful competition for Presdales, well done all!

Football

U12s

Well done to our U12s who, on Monday 30th January, won the District 6 a-side tournament. The girls got off to a great start in their group winning both their first two matches 3-0 and then a 0-0 draw to top the group.

In the semi final, Presdales faced Broxbourne who also looked impressive in their group matches. Presdales dominated the match winning 2-0 with two well taken goals by Liv White. The first one was created by a defence cutting pass from Ava McManus that Kevin De Bruyne would have been proud of!

The final was against Haileybury Turnford and despite numerous shots on their goal and not facing a shot on our own goal, the match went into 2 mins extra time and then penalties. Our girls bravely stepped up and scored the first 4 penalties beautifully. Turnford had to score to go to a 5th penalty but hit the bar with Presdales, deservedly so, becoming the District Champions.

This young Presdales team is extremely talented, playing some beautiful football. They are also incredibly determined and committed. I’m looking forward to seeing their footballing journey as they progress through the years at school. The whole team were Star Players!

U13s

Tuesday 31st January

Well done to the U13s football team who recently reached the semi finals of the County Cup with a 4-1 victory against Goffs! This is the first time Presdales has entered the U13s county cup competition, so all credit to the girls for going so deep into the competition. More to come I hope!

After a bit of a slowish start on a heavy pitch, the girls started to find their rhythm and began to create more chances. The breakthrough came just before half time through a lovely solo goal from Mia with an expert chip over the Goffs keeper. Our second goal followed soon after with a beautiful run and finish by Willow into the bottom corner on her weaker foot. Love to see that!

After half time, Goffs threatened a bit more trying to get back into the game but our defence was solid. Presdales went 3-0 up with Mia thumping an unstoppable finish into the corner. Goffs pulled one back but then the match finished 4-1 to Presdales with Amy producing a lovely one touch from a corner.

Player of the match, voted by Goffs, was Mia. Coaches Player of the Match was Willow. Lots of great performances and now onto your first County Cup semi final girls!

Friday 3rd February

Brilliant performance from our U13s last Friday night who played the Stevenage U14s academy team in a friendly. Presdales were absolutely outstanding winning the match 3-0! We have some wonderful talent at this age group and some of the football they played was truly breathtaking.

Annabel scored the 1st goal smashing in a left foot shot off the post, following a lovely through ball from Liv. The second goal was scored by Mia who nearly broke the net with the power behind her shot! Ava finished it off with a quite brilliant free kick curling it beyond the wall into the bottom corner.

So proud of all the girls. They were playing against some of the best talent in the area and played like a team that play together every week. The Stevenage coaches were very complimentary about the quality of our football. This was a a convincing win and an absolute pleasure to watch!

U14s

Friday 3rd February

Great effort from the U14s football team who lost 4-2 against John Warner in the district league on Friday. This was a mixed team compromised of Year 8 and 9 and they faced a strong John Warner team. Very proud of the girls for coming back from 0-3 down to ‘win’ the second half 2-1! A few tweaks to formation changed the dynamic with Presdales the stronger team in the second half. Outstanding commitment as always from the girls. Coaches Player of the Match was Georgia with a great defensive performance.

Monday 6th February

Well done to our U14s who won 4-0 against The Reach Free School on Monday to qualify for the semi final of the County Cup. The girls played well showing their usual commitment & determination throughout. Goals by Mia, Annabel x 2 and Willow gave Presdales a deserved victory. We now enter uncharted territory with our first County Cup semi final in this age group. The girls are understandably excited to reach this stage. Player of the Match, selected by Reach Free, was Lali and Coaches Player of the Match was Annabel. Well done to all the girls for a great team performance!

U16s

Fantastic performance from our U16s on Tuesday to best Broxbourne 3-0 in the County Cup Quarter Final. This means Presdales has achieved a hat-trick of semi finals with our U13s and U14s also reaching that stage.

This was a tough match against a strong Broxbourne team. The game was evenly matched, with a highly competitive midfield battle throughout. There was some lovely football played despite the heavy pitch.

Presdales deserved their victory enjoying more possession and creating a lot of good chances. The Presdales defence was combative and resolute, conceding very few chances on our goal.

The scoring was opened shortly before half time by Amber M. This followed some good work on the wing by Anastasia who created the chance. Amber skipped her defender and finished with a lovely controlled left foot shot into the corner.

Anastasia scored our second after great pressing and blocking their defensive clearance. Amber M made it 3-0 with a rocket from 20 yards into the top corner – a quite beautiful goal! Amber M then came close to securing her hat-trick hitting the bar.

Brilliant from all the girls who played as a proper team and not just a group of individuals. Coaches Player of the Match goes to Amber M for her two outstanding goals and overall performance. Well done girls. Now onwards to the semi final!

Swimming

Well done to all those swimming on Monday at John Warner! You were all excellent!

Cross Country

Well done to Oliver Hobdell (Year 12) who competed in the County Cross Country at Westminster Lodge on Saturday. It was a strong field and a tough course and he performed excellently!

Football

Year 8

Well done to the Year 8 team who played Haileybury in a district football match last week. It was an evenly contested match played in great spirit. Both teams showed 100% commitment in horrid wet and cold conditions on a muddy pitch. The girls came back from 0-1 behind at half time to lead 2-1 with about 10mins left. Haileybury equalised from a corner with the match ending in a 2-2 draw which was a fair result. Coaches player of the match was Jasmine Sims.

U16s

Fantastic 4-1 win for our U16s football team against STAGS yesterday. The girls now qualify for the Quarter Finals of the County Cup.

This was a hard fought win against a strong STAGS team. Both teams creating good chances and it was closely contested throughout. After going 2-0 up, STAGS fought back to 2-1 and then hit the inside of the post which was a heart in mouth moment! Our third goal, which was a wonder strike from 25 yards into the top corner by Rimini helped to calm the nerves. Rimini then completed her hat trick with a lovely solo goal to effectively end the tie at 4-1. Our other goal was scored by Amber L who took the penalty after she was fouled in the box following an amazing run.

I was so impressed with the entire team for showing such desire and commitment. It was a bitterly cold day but the girls certainly kept themselves warm with the amount of running they did. The girls did put their coats on for the team photo, but I can assure everyone they didn’t play with them on!

Player of the match voted by STAGS was Eva C. Coaches player of the match shared jointly between Rimini and Amber L who were both outstanding in central midfield. All the girls were amazing!

Netball

Year 7

Well done to the Year 7’s this week who showed excellent effort and great teamwork in their netball match but unfortunately lost 7-0 to John Warner. Star Player was Betsy Hudson.

Year 8

Well done to the Year 8 netball team who beat John Warner 25-2 demonstrating excellent teamwork and versatility!  Star Player was Hannah McGowan!

Year 10 / 11

Also well done to the Year 10/11 team who unfortunately only had time to play 2 quarters and lost very closely 14-12! We even ran out of time for a picture…

Netball

Excellent effort from our Year 10 netball team in the quarter finals of the County Cup. Big 47-2 win vs Royal Masonic School. Some fantastic netball and team work on show! Star player was Alexi Wittey. Into the semi finals we go. Fantastic effort girls – let’s go all the way!

Badminton

Congratulations to our Year 9 Badminton team who recently competed in the U16 County Finals. They showed excellent effort and resilience to come 3rd overall out of 8! Only losing one game overall. Star player Charlotte Wilson.

Equestrian

On 4th December, Scarlett Thornton and Ruby Robinson went to Brook Farm in Essex and took part in the NSEA Eventers Challenge for the Presdales team. It is cross country style jumping in an enclosed arena and the top 4 individuals qualify for Hickstead next May. Ruby did so well on her lovely pony Crossword coming 5th in the 90cm class, and then Scarlett on her horse Brookfield Carnivan in the 1 metre class, came a fabulous 4th and has qualified, which is a real achievement. Well done girls.

The next date for competition will be in January at Bury Farm for the County Championship qualifiers.

Football

U13s

An exciting afternoon for our U13 teams who took part in an EFL 6 a side football tournament hosted on Friday 25th November. Our Year 7 team topped their group winning all 5 matches, scoring 22 goals and conceding 0. They looked favourites to win the tournament however in the quarter final they just couldn’t find the back of the net and unfortunately lost on penalties. It just goes to show how you can never predict a game of football. Brilliant performances from all the girls and very unfortunate not to go all the way.

Our Year 8 team were also very impressive in their group winning all 5 matches, scoring 16 goals and conceding only 3. They went on to win their quarter and semi finals reaching the final! The Year 8s looked favourites to lift the cup, however again we just couldn’t find the net after being so prolific up to this point and unfortunately conceded a breakaway goal to lose 0-1.

At the end of the day it was a case of so near yet so far. At one stage it looked like it would be an ‘All Presdales’ final with both out teams so dominant in the group stages. The organisers at Stevenage FC were extremely complimentary about the quality of football played by the Presdales teams and had fully expected us to win the tournament. However that’s football! The girls did themselves proud and enjoyed the experience.

Year 7 Player of the Tournament – Liv White

Year 8 Player of the Tournament – Julia Dodd

U14s

Well done to the U14s football team who won 5-0 against Rickmansworth in the County Cup last week. This means the girls now enter the quarter final stage in the next round.

Comfortable win. The girls are capable of playing to a higher level but they did what was needed. Sterner tests will follow I’m sure. Two goals from Sophie Langford and a hat trick from Mia Schillaci Rowland secured the win.

Player of the Match voted by Rickmansworth was the captain, Lali Lister who ran Rickmansworth ragged with her outstanding dribbling skills.

Coaches Player of the Match was Mia Schillachi Rowland with a powerful performance as Centre Forward and bagging a hat trick.

Well done to all the girls!

U13s

Well done to the U13s football team who have reached the quarter finals of the County Cup after beating John Warner 6-2. Fantastic team performance and 100% commitment throughout. Play of the Match selected by J Warner was Mia Schillaci Rowland who scored her second successive hat trick. Coaches Player was Lily McMenamin for a skilful and disciplined performance creating lots of chances and scoring the opening goal. Well done to all the girls!

Year 7

Great performance by the Year 7 team who played in a district football match against Haileybury Turnford this week. This was a tough match, every ball contested and a real test for the girls. Presdales led 3-1 with 10mins left but a penalty converted by Haileybury Turnford meant it was a nervy finish. The girls fought for every ball but unfortunately they equalised with literally the final kick of the game to end in a hard fought 3-3 draw. Outstanding commitment from all the girls and some lovely football throughout. Coaches Player of the Match was awarded to Aleksandra who played an amazing match. Really proud of all the girls!

Table Tennis

Well done to the U14 and U16 Table Tennis teams who played in the County tournament last week at Welwyn.

The U14s came 3rd place and the U16’s narrowly missed out on medals coming in 4th place! Well done girls!!!

Netball

Year 7

Amazing effort from our Year 7 netball teams last week against Chauncy! A team won 26-13 and star player was Isabella Wilson and our B team won 13-2. Star Player was Ella Coffey. Well done girls!

Year 9

Well done to the Year 9 netball teams who both won their games against Simon Balle last Thursday.

The A team won 33-7 with Alexa Ingrey voted as Star player! The B team won 30-14 with Chloe Evans voted as Star player!

Senior Team

Congratulations to the Senior netball team who beat John Henry Newman 47-18 last night in the quarter finals of the County Cup! The girls played amazingly despite being unable to feel their hands in the freezing conditions and are now through to the semi finals after Christmas. Star player goes to Rosie Martin!

Equestrian

Presdales Equestrian Team Report from Felbridge 6th November and Forest Edge on 27th November:

At the beginning of November, Scarlett Thornton, Ruby Robinson and Connie Thompson made the trip down to Sussex to represent Presdales in show jumping in absolutely torrential rain. The arena was not covered, so they all got absolutely soaked whilst doing their classes. The show organisers after this wisely put a stop to the competition for the rest of day. The girls put on a brave show but there weren’t any placings at this time.

The next date was 27th November at Forest Edge, Norfolk. This time it was Evie Lodge, Ruby Robinson and Scarlett Thornton taking part. At least the show venue was undercover so well protected from the weather. The competition was a tough one with a lot of schools taking part and the team came 11th overall. Well done to you all!

U13s

Wow, what a match!! This would have done justice to the final of the U13s County Cup, let alone the 1st round and is undoubtedly the most tense and exciting match I’ve been involved in at Presdales (so far)!! Presdales Year 8s were simply outstanding, winning 4-2 on penalties against a very strong St Albans Girls School (STAGS) team on 10th November. The game ended 1-1 after normal time with Presdales having the better chances but unable to turn their superiority into goals. The match went to extra time, with the STAGS goalie making an incredible double save to prevent a winner for Presdales. So, after a hard fought battle, we faced the ‘excitement’ of a penalty shoot out ….. Cara Nolan, who had never played in goal before, was incredible saving two of the first three STAGS penalties! Presdales successfully converted 3 out of 3 so we just needed one more to take the win. Our 4th penalty hit the bar which made it more tense, but the 5th was successful to take the win 4-2.

I’m incredible proud of the entire team. What an amazing effort, with 100% commitment throughout. They never stopped running and competed for every ball like real Lionesses!

It was hard to select the Player of the Match as everyone deserved it, however Amy Little just edged it with an incredible performance in central defence. Well done girls, so proud of you all!!

This week, the Year 8 football team beat Broxbourne 5-0 in the District League. It was a quite hideous evening, cold with heavy rain pouring down. The girls coped with the conditions well and secured a convincing win. Player of the Match voted by Broxbourne was Mia Schillaci-Rowland and Coach’s Player of the Match went to Sienna Goodfellow. Great win girls!

U16s

Convincing win for our U16s football team beating Marlborough School 10-1 in the County cup. Some great individual performances and lovely team play with crisp interchanges and incisive passing. Player of the Match and Coaches Player of the Match was Amber Leighton who was outstanding throughout and scored a hat-trick. Well done girls, onto the next round!

Year 7

Well done to the Year 7 Football team who won 9-1 against John Warner in the District League last week, the first time Presdales has competed in this competition. Fantastic performance from the girls playing some lovely flowing football and scoring some great goals.

Joint Players of the Match as voted by John Warner were Ava M and Liv W. The Coaches Player of the Match was Sienna R who scored a hat trick, but the entire team was fantastic. Well done girls!

Netball

Seniors

Last week the senior netball team played against Broxbourne in a friendly match. Despite some excellent team work and determination they lost 30-14 with all of them playing the whole game due to a lack of subs!

Unlucky girls but you should keep your heads held high! Star player as voted for by Broxbourne was Jess Ward!

Year 7

Well done to the Year 7’s who also played netball against Broxbourne last week. The red team were up against a tough Broxbourne A team and lost 14-0. There was some good play in the mid court, but unfortunately their defence did a great job of keeping us out. Star Player was Ella Coffey.

The blue team had a very close game and narrowly lost 8-6. The girls played very well for a first match together. Star Player was Nancy Parman-Gavin.

Well done to all of the girls who played!

Year 10

Well done to our Year 10 netball team who played a friendly match against Broxbourne on Wednesday. They won 39-10! Star Player was Lucy White.

Year 8

Well done to our Year 8 netball teams who also played against Broxbourne on Wednesday.

The Year 8A team were playing the quarter final round of the county cup. They worked hard to come back after being down to beat Broxbourne 30-17! Star player was Georgia Wittey. Congratulations girls you are now through to the semi finals!!

The Year 8B team played a friendly match and won very convincingly 39-3. Star player was Julia Dodd.

Badminton

Well done to the U14 and U16 Badminton teams who played in the first round of the County’s last week.

Equestrian

On 28th October at Bury Farm in Bedfordshire it was the turn of one of the newest members to join the Presdales Equestrian team, Jess Pierce, to take part in the National Schools Equestrian Association County Dressage qualifier. Jess and the lovely pony Henley took part in their first preliminary dressage test and Henley’s very first show. They did a great job of coming a very admirable 12th amongst some very stiff competition. The smile on Jess’ face and also Henley’s says it all! Well done to you both and we look forward to seeing you in action again!

Table Tennis

Congratulations to the U13 Table Tennis team who beat Simon Balle last night in the first round of the Schools Games. They will go through to the County finals at the end of the month!

Cross Country

Well done to all who participated in the Cross Country Champs on Wednesday!! We won all team events! Star performer was Martha Ker who won her race but amazing effort from all of you!

Hockey

In October, our U13s played in the first round of the In2Hockey National Championships. The girls played some amazing hockey winning all their pool games finishing in top position. Scores:

Haileybury – won 3-0

RMS – won 2-0

St Ed’s – won 3-0

Heathmount – won 4-0

This meant we played Queenswood in the semi final. We went 1-0 down but very quickly pulled it back to 1-1. We kept pressuring but unfortunately the full time whistle went. Penalty flicks it was!!!! – and a first time experience for some!

Unfortunately, we lost out 3-5 meaning Queenswood went on to the final to play against Haileybury. Queenswood ended up winning on penalty flicks again!

Well done to the U13 Hockey team who played at an U13 Hockey Festival at Queenswood on Wednesday. Some great hockey was played by all! Scores were:-

Coopers – lost 2-1

Queenswood – drew 0-0

Coopers B – won 3-0

Queenswood B – won 5-0

Rms – won 4-2

DAO – won 3-0

Star player in the tournament for effort and determination during the match – Esmee B.

Netball

Year 9 & 10

Well done to the Year 9 and 10’s who played Chauncey last week. We played a mixture of teams and the girls played versatility netball by playing all kinds of positions. Both teams played exceptionally and won all of their quarters. Well done to all of those involved!

Year 8 Red & Blue

Well done to the Year 8 Red and Blue netball teams who played against Simon Balle on Monday in difficult weather conditions. The Red team lost 21-12, with a strong 3rd quarter. Star Player was Sofia Smith.

The Blue team won 3-1 and their Star Player was Poppy Saunders.

Thank you also to Evie Macrae in Year 10 who umpired the Blue team game for us.

Sorry no picture due to the driving rain!

Year 8 A & B

Well done to the Year 8 A and B netball teams who made the journey across the county to Rickmansworth on Tuesday to face Royal Masonic in the first round of the County Cup and a friendly respectively.

The A team dominated from the first quarter with some lovely interplay and the team linking beautifully together from defence through to attack. The domination continued and the girls came out 30-5 winners and are through to round 2! Star Player was Sienna Goodfellow.

The B team had a slightly tighter game with lots of play and turnovers in the centre court. But with persistence and some great teamwork and determination the girls came out on top 8-4. Star Player was Jemima Spowart.

Well done to all of the girls!
