Huge congratulations to the U16 Girls who are the Hertfordshire County Football Champions! It was a brilliant performance from the girls, dominating the match throughout and winning 7-0 vs St Clement Danes. In the first half, the clock was ticking towards half time and we just couldn’t seem to break the deadlock despite dominating possession and attacking relentlessly. You could sense a goal was coming though and a clever through ball from Amber L set up Eva D who drew the keeper and finished beautifully to put Presdales 1-0 ahead. You could see that calmed the nerves a bit. I asked the girls for a fast start to the second half and we definitely got that scoring within a minute of the restart! Eva D’s shot was parried by their keeper and Amber L was on hand to tap the ball into the net. The girls continued to play some lovely football and the goals began to flow. Rimini scored a hat-trick with two fantastic free kicks. The second one was quite outrageous striking it from beyond the half way line straight into the top of the net…..really quite remarkable to see!! This is the second time Rimini has scored a goal like this in the county competition, so this was no fluke! Amber L added her second with a well taken finish and Tonye also got on the scoresheet with a powerful run and finish. This was another assist from Amber L who was completely controlling the midfield and threading balls through for the attackers. There were outstanding performances all over the pitch, so I think it would be unfair to single out any individual in such a fantastic team performance. So ALL the girls are my players of the match!! Absolutely delighted for all the girls, seeing them so happy at the end of the match. This is a great achievement and something you can always remember. It’s also a new landmark for Presdales winning a county cup in football for the first time! Well done to the U13 Girls football team who beat Leventhorpe 2-1 in the final last week to become District Champions!! It was a dominant performance from Presdales but scoring proved difficult on a bumpy pitch with a strong wind throughout. The first half ended 0-0 with Leventhorpe defending for their lives. Attack after attack just couldn’t yield the breakthrough. Presdales started the second half again on the front foot dominating possession and the breakthrough came through a goal by Lily McMenamin to lead 1-0. We had a little bit of good fortune but the goal was thoroughly deserved! Leventhorpe threatened a bit more in the second half using a long ball tactic with the wind in their favour but Presdales defended brilliantly when needed. Annabel Guy then added a second with a brilliant run and finish to give us a bit more daylight. However, Leventhorpe rallied and managed to grab a goal with five minutes remaining to make it a slightly nervy finish. The girls saw the game out and it was a thoroughly deserved win for Presdales. The girls played some lovely football and demonstrated fantastic determination, teamwork and commitment. After narrowly missing out on reaching the County Cup final, this was a fitting end to a great season for our U13s. Such a lovely group of girls, it’s been a real pleasure working with them this season. Player of the Match (selected by Leventhorpe) was Mia Schillaci-Rowland. Well done Mia! The Players Player of the Match (voted by our own team) was Annabel Guy. Well done Annabel! Special mention to Sienna Goodfellow who came a close second and played a fantastic match. Congratulations to all the girls. Looking forward to next season! Well done to the girls who took part in the first tennis match of the year last Monday. We played a very strong Beaumont team in very tricky conditions. Despite the challenges faced, the girls worked really hard from the first serve to the last shot. Sadly we came away having lost the tie, but onwards and upwards to the next match. Well done to Sienna Goodfellow, Kenzie Bradshaw, Poppy Ward and Olivia Holme. Special mention to Kenzie and Olivia for stepping in at the last minute. Super stars!Football
