As part of their GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition specification, our fantastic Year 11 students successfully completed their 3 hour practical exam, this half term. This year the Food Preparation task themes are based on North & South American Cuisine, dishes suitable for a teenager eating a plant based diet and dishes which are rich in calcium for people with osteoporosis. Year 11 have produced a wide range of exciting dishes to fit their chosen task. Staff and visitors lucky enough to taste the food all made extremely positive comments about the food including; “amazing aromas,” “excellent flavours” and “fantastic presentation”.

On Saturday 25th March the Royal Courts of Justice in London made space between the celebrity squabbling of Prince Harry, Elton John and the Daily Mail to host the National Finals of the Bar Mock Trial for this year.
Presdales, as winners of the Outer London heats, was represented by a team of Year 12 students: Adesola Jinadu-Adewale, Zoe Drewitt, Evelyn Youngman, Callum Tredgett, Matilda Endersbee, Jasmine Kelly, Rebecca Mansford, Ruby O’Neill, Seren Miller, Kim Pittaccio, Francesca Caira and Yu Qiong Chen who took it in turns to go head-to-head with other school teams from all over the UK (including from Scotland, Wales and N Ireland and numbering 22 schools in total) over 3 separate rounds.
After Round 1 we were all ready to go home, having come up against a highly talented side from the Wirral Grammar School for Girls, who later went on to be the eventual winners. But Round 2 and Round 3 saw spirited performances by Presdales “seeing off” lesser opposition in the shape of schools from Huddersfield and Norwich.
The ultimate team trophy still eludes us but we didn’t come away empty-handed as Evelyn Youngman won an individual award for “best defence witness”, awarded by none other than Sir Brian Leveson (High Court Judge of Leveson Inquiry fame).
On Friday 24th March, both Year 12 and Year 13 students took part in a morning of ‘Wellbeing and Moving On’ Workshops. We were incredibly lucky to host the following sessions;
-Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, delivering a session on ‘Beating Exam Stress’ (Years 12 & 13)
-University of East Anglia delivering a session on Student Finances (Year 13 only)
-Hertfordshire’s Road Safety Partnership showing a video ‘Young Drivers’
We hope that the sessions will enable the students to think about their own wellbeing as well as providing them with vital information about topics such as finances and driving safely.

Congratulations to the U16s Football Team who have reached the County Cup Final for the second consecutive year!
In a tough match against Sir John Lawes which ended 2-2 after extra time, Presdales won the penalty shoot out to progress to the final. The girls needed to show resilience, twice going behind and coming back to level. Our first goal was a beautifully taken goal by Eva Delaney to level the match before going 1-2 down to a breakaway goal. At times it seemed like it was going to be one of those days with Presdales creating numerous changes but not finding the net. Luckily with less than 5 minutes left our pressure paid off with Amber Madell scoring a well taken equaliser. Extra time created more but neither side could find a goal leading to the drama of a penalty shoot out. Eva Cullen saved SJL’s first penalty before our Captain Amber Leighton scored with an expertly taken penalty. SJL then missed their next 2 penalties with Amber Madell scoring our 2nd and then Rimini Lowe stepping to score the winning penalty. Beautiful penalties girls and a well deserved, hard fought win! So onwards to the County Cup Final!
Coaches POTM is shared between Amber Leighton and Eva Delaney, but all the girls were stars!
U15s
Well done to our U15s who beat Freman 4-0 last week to top their group in the District League. This means we qualify for the U15s District Football Final. It was tough going on a very heavy pitch and we didn’t really get going until the second half. The girls started to string some passes together and looked more dangerous, scoring 3 second half goals. Coaches Player of the Match was Georgiana F who had a fantastic game and scored a hat trick. Well done to all the girls!
Netball
Year 7
Massive CONGRATULATIONS to the Year 7 Netball team who were undefeated in all the games in the tournament last Monday to become Year 7 Champions of 2023!!! Great team work, enthusiasm and commitment to the game!
Year 8
Huge congratulations to the Year 8 A and B netball teams who were both crowned District Champions in their respective competitions last week. Both teams came away with a 100% record, being undefeated in all games. Thank you to all of the parents who came to support! Well done to all of the girls who played!
Year 9
Well done to our Year 9 Netball teams who competed in the District Tournament on Wednesday. Our A team only lost one game coming runners up and the B team won their tournament meaning District Champions! Well done to all who played! Star players were Honey Hudson and Chloe Evans!
County Cup Netball Finals
On Thursday 23rd March, the Year 8, 10 and Senior netball teams played in the County Cup Netball Finals.
The games were all held at Presdales and it proved to be quite the occasion, despite the rain’s best effort to spoil it.
The games were very close and hotly contested with some excellent netball played by the girls on all 3 courts.
The Seniors narrowly lost 20-19 to Sandringham in a very close game. This was a fantastic performance especially in light of the fact that 2 of the starting 7 were unavailable due to injury. Star players were Ashley Buckle and Jess Ward.
The Year 10 team had an equally difficult match against a very strong Herts and Essex team. The girls played so well and gave it everything in all 4 quarters. Unfortunately the end result was a 25-12 defeat. Star player was Maisie Potter.
The Year 8 team were against Dame Alice Owens, a team we knew very little about. The girls started strongly turning over a long centre pass and taking the lead early on. This continued throughout the game. The strength and depth of the squad proved too much for the opposition and Presdales won 27-10! County Champions! Star players were Poppy Ward and Ruby Millburn.
Well played to every single girl involved. It was a real privilege and pleasure (even in the pouring rain!) to see them all playing with so much heart and desire. There is so much to be proud of here and we are excited to see what next season brings!

The U16 netball team played 8 games in the pool round at the National Schools Netball Finals last weekend displaying outstanding skill, teamwork and composure throughout.
They won 4 games, drew 3 and only lost 1 game. In a very tight pool where no team won all of their games, we ended up in 4th place meaning we progressed to the cup semi finals! The girls gave absolutely everything despite being exhausted playing 10 games throughout the day.
They ended up in 8th place overall and the 2nd BEST U16 STATE SCHOOL TEAM IN ENGLAND which is an incredible achievement!
The team who went on to be crowned National Champions we actually drew to in the pool round which says a lot about the level of netball our U16 team are capable of.
We cannot put into words how proud we are of the way the girls carried themselves throughout the weekend, the amazing netball they played and the beautiful young women they are!
We hope they have made the most amazing memories as we certainly have and it’s a weekend we will never forget!
Cricket
Well done to the U13 Cricket team who played at the Hertfordshire University last week in the District Cricket Tournament. They played very well improving in every game! In their last match against Queenswood, they won 97-96! Overall they came 3rd in their pool. Well done girls!
