Here are some really good wood research pieces of homework by the Product Design classes who are designing and making an Eco speaker, and learning about different aspects of woodwork. Very well done Year 8 for your creative and interesting research about wood.
To celebrate the Epiphany, our Year 7 groups found out about the tradition of “la galette des rois” during their French lessons. As many of our students now know, “La galette des rois” is enjoyed by French people around 6th January, the day of the Epiphany and a “fève” (a sort of charm/coin) is hidden in it. Whoever gets the slice with the “fève” is crowned King or Queen for the day. The recipe was shared and many Year 7 students created crowns and made the galette at home.
Year 7 have certainly kept us very busy with giving out Stars, R1s and R2s!

Our Year 10 GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition students were very busy last week making and decorating their Gingerbread houses – many commented on the wonderful smell in the D&T area. It was a very enjoyable challenge, if a little stressful at times! The students were amazing and are rightly proud of their creative accomplishments. It was also lovely to see that students were happy to help each other put the finishes touches to their masterpieces!
Well done to all our students with special commendations to Jessica McAllister, Megan Marriott and Emma Butterfield.

Merry Christmas from the Food Department
On Wednesday 15th December, Year 7 and 8 held a Christmas Fayre which we have not been able to organise since before the pandemic. Each form had a stall at the Fayre and activities included pin the nose on Rudolf, guess how many sweets in the jar, hook an antler and throw a snowball down the chimney. As you can see, the students and teachers enjoyed themselves and it was a nice start to the festive season!
During the Christmas Fayre our raffle was drawn and prizes were awarded. Over £2,500 was raised for the PA. Thank you to everyone who donated prizes, bought raffle tickets and took part in the Fayre.
