Well done to all the Year 12 photography students who have been producing some fantastic outcomes after the recent Photoshop masterclass.

Year 12 Art trip to Cambridge, 6th November 2019

Our Art students recently enjoyed a day in Cambridge studying, drawing and recording natural forms. We visited Cambridge Botanical Gardens and Cambridge Zoolological museum.

The students brought back a variety of ideas and images to inspire their portfolios.

Year 10 GCSE Art Lino Printing day, Thursday 14th November

A fabulous day was had by our students yesterday. The students learnt new lino printing techniques and experimented with unusual and colourful backgrounds. Everyone worked very hard and produced beautiful prints for their coursework.

Photography Workshop

“We spent an entire day learning how shutter speed and aperture can affect your photography. We experimented with light painting in the morning, which allowed us to create a range of patterns, and explored both smaller and larger apertures in the afternoon. I found the workshop really interesting and, with help from the photography staff, we were able to create incredible work to utilise in our coursework.”

Year 11 Lino print workshop day

Imaginative and skilful work was created last week by our Year 11 GCSE Art students. Advanced printing techniques were discovered and practised, resulting in wonderful prints to be added to our students’ portfolios. Well done to everyone!

Head’s Award

Congratulations to Amber Dunstan and Yuhsuan Chen in Year 13 who won the ‘Head’s Award’ this term. Their beautiful art work will be displayed in Mr Warren’s office.

Year 12 Art Print Workshop

We had the whole day off timetable to participate in a lino workshop, which consisted of carving our tiles and printing them with high quality inks. Doing this workshop allowed us to not only add another beautiful piece into our A-level books but also expand into other media. We were taught new techniques to improve and advance our lino skills. I found it very enjoyable and helpful as the art staff helped us choose our print design and size, as well as helping us throughout the day with the lino itself. With the materials and supplies the art department was able to provide us, our Year 12 class was able to produce fantastic quality prints.

A level Summer Art & Photography Exhibition

On Friday 7th June, we held our A level Summer Art & Photography Exhibition. Congratulations to all of our wonderful Year 13 students and good luck for the future. We felt that this exhibition in particular showed an outstanding body of work and the Art staff felt very proud. Thank you to all who attended and showed their support to our Art Department and Year 13 students.

Year 10 Summer Art Exam

Recently, our Year 10 GCSE pupils completed a 10 hour exam based on Sweets. They produced two observational studies each and here are a small selection of their coloured pieces. Well done to everyone! We are all so proud of you.

Year 12 & 13 Art and Photography Trip to Barcelona

Our Year 12 & 13 Art and Photography students enjoyed 4 days in sunny Barcelona this Easter. We visited Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell, Barcelona Aquarium, Las Ramblas and Casa Batllo as well as many other beautiful sites. They have all returned afresh with inspiring resources for their next project. Well done to everyone that came for your excellent behaviour and thanks to Mrs Wall and Mrs Sykes for all your outstanding help.
