Mr Warren
We were very pleased to be able to welcome current Year 12 students and ex-Year 13 students and their families back to school for Speech Day on Monday 19th December. This is the first time that we have been able to hold a speech day since 2019 and it was lovely to be able to celebrate our students’ achievements and award their certificates for their A Level and GCSE results in person.
The guest speaker was Grace Harvey, an ex-student and Paralympian. Grace attended Presdales and left in 2016 and she has since competed in the Commonwealth Games and 2020 Tokyo Olympics where she won a silver medal for the 100m breaststroke. Grace gave a moving speech about her life and the importance of having a goal and a plan to achieve it, regardless of what happens around you. She spoke about how, during the pandemic, she had been forced to train in a swimming pool that her parents had erected in the garden with her trainer speaking to her on a zoom call. We are very grateful to Grace for agreeing to address our students and they left feeling inspired to meet the challenges that face them in the next steps of their lives ahead.
Well done to all who entered the languages house greetings card competition. It was really hard to judge because the quality of work was so high, and we really appreciated all your effort. All entrants received an R2 for house competition and winners will receive a further house point and should come to language office 2 to collect their prizes.

As is tradition at this time of the year, the Charity Ambassadors set up a refreshment stall for the exciting Sixth Form Revue. Well done to the super Charity Ambassadors who set up the stall and ran a very well organised area. Thank you to all of the students who brought from the stall too. An amazing £471.46 will be going towards our School Charity of the Year, the NICU at Princess Alexandra Hospital!
Finally, thank you to all of the students who donated for non-school uniform. If parents would like to make any further donations for non-uniform, please look on Wisepay for ‘non-uniform’, and you can still donate to the charity.

On 4th December, Scarlett Thornton and Ruby Robinson went to Brook Farm in Essex and took part in the NSEA Eventers Challenge for the Presdales team. It is cross country style jumping in an enclosed arena and the top 4 individuals qualify for Hickstead next May. Ruby did so well on her lovely pony Crossword coming 5th in the 90cm class, and then Scarlett on her horse Brookfield Carnivan in the 1 metre class, came a fabulous 4th and has qualified, which is a real achievement. Well done girls.
The next date for competition will be in January at Bury Farm for the County Championship qualifiers.
