From German …

Year 7

Year 7 have continued their work in German, learning new vocabulary and grammar as well as Listening tasks and completing their German Learners Guide. It is much easier learning a Language in the classroom but the independent learning in Year 7 has been impressive! Well done Year 7!

From Spanish …

Year 12

As part of their ongoing Spanish work, Year 12 Spanish students have been using an online listening diary in the form of a Google Doc, to log the Spanish listening they do outside of regular classwork. Undertaking this kind of extra practice is a key part of independent language learning at KS5 and really helps listening skills. I check the listening diaries most days as it is in a shared class area for us on Google Drive.

As of Tuesday 19th May, Sofia Gibbins has clocked up 1,852 minutes of independent listening. She has done this in a variety of ways: watching Spanish TV series, making and listening to her own Spanish music playlists online, listening to Spanish national radio stations, and finding and listening to a variety of Spanish podcasts for higher-level language learners. She has done this gradually by doing some every day since lockdown, incorporating it into her day as an activity in itself or while she is doing other work or household chores.

This will be of enormous help to Sofia as she continues her A Level Spanish studies, allowing her to really engage with Spanish language culture and media, and improve her listening and vocabulary. Brilliant work!

Last week’s drama task involved creating a costume design. Below are lovely designs for Macbeth and Lady Macbeth by Alice Reeves and Suzy Anderson.

The optional ambitious task was to have a go at re-creating the play, using anything they had at home! Here is one of the videos of Macbeth Ada Fleming has created.

From Geography …

Year 9

Below is a sample of pages from Josie English’s tour design. An amazing piece of work!

Here are some examples: Morse Code (Louisa S 9M), Space & Rockets (Venus S 8P), Deaf Awareness Week (Chloe S 8P), Army (Angel W 9G) and When did Rock stop being pop? (Katie W).
