Hockey
Massive well done to the U16 hockey team who came 3rd in the County Cup round hosted by Haileybury. They started off with an excellent first game against Haileybury, losing 1-0 by a very unlucky deflection from a short corner that lobbed all players including the keeper! Well played girls, you were very unlucky not to be in top 2!
Cross Country
Fantastic effort from all our cross country runners last week! So many great individual efforts with Ava McManus coming 1st in Year 7. Special mention to Olly Hobdell in Year 12 for the first boy to run for Presdales! As a team our Year 10-13 team smashed it placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th:
Lotty Hobson
Molly Barnard
Martha Ker
Jess Downing
Netball
Well done to our senior netball teams who both won their games against Richard Hale sixth form on Monday! The Year 11 team won 23-20 and the Year 12/13 team won 36-13!
Excellent efforts from all involved and a great way to start the season!
Equestrian
Congratulations and well done to the Presdales Equestrians who were out again last weekend at Brook Farm competing in show jumping, they did not disappoint. A team of Ruby Robinson, Ellen Beesley and a new member, Christina Feltham, came an amazing first in the 80/85 cm class, with a great individual 4th for Ruby in the same class. Ellen came into her own in the 70/75cm class and taking the top spot too, well done her. Really well done to them all and brilliant riding. Looking forward to the next date!
Football
The Year 7 v Year 8 annual Football Challenge match took place on Wednesday and what a fantastic event! We had over 50 girls competing, which is an indication of the growth of football for girls. The quality of football was outstanding! As expected, it was was very competitive with every goal celebrated like it was the World Cup Final!
Year 7 (Team 1) were victorious beating Year 8 (Team 1) by 4-1. They came back from 0-1 down and scored 3 goals in the second half to take the game away from the Year 8s. The match was very closely contested and the final score probably doesn’t reflect how even it was.
In the Team 2 matches, Year 7 came back from 0-2 down equalising just before the final whistle! The girls wanted to do penalties to decide the result with Year 8 triumphant winning 3-2 on penalties.
Well done to all the girls who played. It was wonderful to watch and the games were played in a great spirit. I’m looking forward to next year already!
