Football
Year 7
Last week we had 2 mixed Year 7 teams playing in a mini Round Robin 8-a-side football tournament at Haileybury.
Presdales won the tournament, with 4 wins and 2 draws. Our girls played some lovely football. The matches were played in a good spirit against competitive Haileybury teams. Well done girls!
The results were as follows:-
Team 1
Drew 0-0 Won 1-0 Won 3-0
Team 2
Won 1-0 Won 1-0 Drew 0-0
Scorers were Eva D, Darcy C, Maia K x 2, Georgiana F x 2.
U14s
This week the U14 football team played Stoke Newington School in Hackney and, unfortunately, they lost 0-1 in the first round of the Sisters in Sport National Cup Competition. However, the girls are to be commended; they never stopped trying, but just couldn’t fashion an equaliser despite dominating most of the second half. Stoke Newington defended very well and made it difficult for our forwards with several good blocks from our shots on goal. At the other end, Eva Cullen played brilliantly throughout and made one particularly outstanding save to keep the score at 0-1!
Defensively, Presdales showed great determination and largely managed to contain the threat of their no9 who was exceptionally good. Hannah and Ella deserve special mention for the way they defended against her. We threw the kitchen sink at Stoke Newington in the last 15 minutes moving Ella from Centre Half to Centre Forward, and it (very nearly) paid dividends…! Unlucky girls – a great overall team performance, however. Star Players were Eva Cullen and Ella Richardson.
