Handball

National Schools Handball Finalists!

Well done to every single squad member on their immense efforts in the Finals. It was a big stage and you rose to the challenge. A win, draw and two narrow losses is an amazing achievement especially when we have very little handball experience.

You should be so proud of yourselves – Presdales first ever handball finalists. Bouncing back makes the next step even sweeter – we’ll be back!

Tennis

◘ Well done to our brilliant U13 tennis players for their achievements against Monks Walk on 4th June. Fantastic performances on display with Presdales confidently winning both doubles matches, and 3 out of 4 singles matches. Great attitude and sportsmanship throughout!

◘ Congratulations to the Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 tennis teams who recently played in a district tournament against Broxbourne. The Year 8, 9 and 10’s were playing to progress to the county finals. The Year 8’s and 9’s won overall but unfortunately the Year 10’s narrowly just lost! Good luck to the Year 8 and 9 teams at the County Finals on the 26th June!

◘ A fine display of tennis skills from our Year 9 and 10s last week against Parmiters. Some incredibly tough matches producing some stunning shots from our players. Great resilience throughout when competing in true tennis weather conditions! Well done girls!

Rounders

Presdales v Chauncy

Well done to the Year 9 and 10 rounders teams who played against Chauncy on 4th June. The Year 9s were on form and won their game….. some of their bats only being stopped by the Chauncy school buildings!! The Year 10s were unlucky to not win, however, some great batting and fielding throughout the game! Next time!!

Year 9 District Rounders Tournament

Massive congratulations to the Year 9 rounders team who won the district rounders tournament on 6th June! They remained undefeated throughout the group stages and won the semi final against Goffs. In the final we started off fielding and the girls were first class, 5 of the team caught players out and then we managed to get the whole of the Broxbourne team out on a score of 1 & 1/2 rounders by stumping the batting box to end the innings early. We then went into bat and scored 7 rounders meaning the Year 9 rounders team are DISTRICT CHAMPIONS for the 3rd year running!!

Star Players – the whole team!

a

Year 10 District Rounders Tournament

Football

U14s County Cup

Wow! What an outstanding performance from our U14s football team last week to win the County Cup football final 4-0 against Croxley Danes.

The girls had earmarked getting ‘revenge’ after being knocked out 4-3 by the same team last season in the semi final. Croxley then went on to win the final, so we beat the defending champions. Presdales started fast and kept their foot on the accelerator throughout. They were 3-0 up at half time with Croxley only fashioning one half chance. They were all excellent goals with a quite astonishing 35 yard strike from Liv White bringing gasps from the stands and also from me! I had privately being saying to myself ‘no, don’t shoot from there, you’re too far out’…..and then an absolute rocket rippled the roof of the net! This was Liv’s second after rounding the keeper and finishing calmly to put Presdales in front early in the match. Keira Gale scored a third with a lovely mazy run and controlled finish into the corner.

It was a huge pitch for their age group but with a big squad, we were able to rotate as necessary when the girls got tired without losing our shape or structure. This paid dividends with Annabel Guy coming back onto the pitch after a deserved rest and within minutes showing her electric speed to run past the Croxley defence and smash a brilliant left foot finish into the top of the net to make it 4-0.

Lots of preparation went into getting the team ready for this match and you could feel their confidence ahead of the match. I’m so happy for the girls, especially after seeing the tears from the U13s last week when they narrowly lost their cup final. It’s been a real privilege to be part of the journey to the final with you girls. It’s a significant achievement to win a County Cup in a very strong county, and to win it so convincingly is all credit to you as a group of players.

Marlee Seymour was voted PoM by the Sponsor for the match, well done Marlee! I found it extremely difficult to pick my Player of the Match as all of the girls played so well. In the end, I’ve gone for a joint PoM to Liv White and Aleks Ivaskevicuite who were both outstanding.

Also, special mention to Poppy Ward who has only recently started in goal for the U14s. She has done so well despite having virtually no experience of playing in goal at club level. Clearly a natural! Congratulations to all of you!! A fitting end to a fantastic season getting to the last 32 of the National Cup, and becoming County Champions!

U14s District Cup

Congratulations to our U14s who completed the ‘Double’ by winning the District Football Cup with a 4-0 win against Goffs Academy yesterday. This follows their win in the County Cup Final against Croxley Danes last week by exactly the same scoreline!

The girls dominated the match throughout and whilst it wasn’t their best performance of the season, the result was never in doubt. It took the girls a while to find their rhythm but once they did, they started to play some lovely football. Two goals in each half without reply made it a fairly comfortable afternoon.

Such a talented group of girls who are always fully committed and give everything on the pitch. They are a truly lovely group to work with. This was the last football match of this academic year and a fitting end to a truly great season for our U14s.

Goals were from Mia Schillaci Rowland, Marlee Seymour x 2 and Amy Little. Coaches PotM was the whole team. Well done to all the girls!

Athletics

Well done to all of our athletes who took part in our first county league event on Wednesday last week! A great start to the league with lots of top 3 finishes across both age groups and events!

Rounders

Well done to the Year 9 and Year 10 rounders teams who played at home against Simon Balle this week!

The Year 9 team unfortunately lost 6 & 1/2 to 8 rounders. POM was Olivia Holme.

The Year 10 team won 7 & 1/2 to 2 & 1/2! POM was Honey Hudson. Well done girls, great afternoon in the sun!

Handball

U13 Handball Regional Champions!!

Huge congratulations to our Year 8’s who won their group last week, not losing a game! They faced Herts and Essex in the semi-final, winning 4-2 securing our place at the National Finals in June. In the final, the girls then won 2-0 against Northampton School for Girls to become Regional Champions! The girls were brilliant all day, with a long journey to Nottingham and back! You were all amazing but player of the tournament was Lilianna Sopala. Bring on the Nationals!!

Football

It was a case of ‘so near yet so far’ for the U13s Football team last week losing 2-3 in the County Cup Final to Parmiters. Presdales dominated possession and created a lot of chances. We could have potentially been 3-0 after 20 minutes, but found ourselves 1-0 down to a goal which came from a long kick out from the Parmiters GK and bounced over our defence. It was clear that Parmiters tactics was to pack their defence, sit deep and then hit long balls to their dangerous centre forward. This made it difficult to break them down but the girls responded well with Liv White scoring two exceptional goals to go into half time 2-1 ahead. The first goal came from a beautiful pass from Ava Mcmanus which took out the Parmiters defence with Liv taking it on her chest, swivelling and hitting it in one seamless movement.

In the second half, Presdales enjoyed total control for the first 15 minutes, but couldn’t find the back of the net to make the game more comfortable. Unfortunately, Parmiters then equalised from another long ball to their Centre Forward who drove through our defence and scored at the near post. With the game finely balanced and approaching the final 10 minutes, Presdales missed a couple of good chances including one which hit the underside of the bar, bounced down but was judged not to have gone fully over the line. With only two minutes remaining, another long ball over our defence found their striker who battled her way past some valiant defence. Her shot was initially well saved by Liv Beswick but fortuitously rebounded back out and the striker managed to finish it off at the second attempt. The girls never stopped trying until the final whistle blew but ultimately there just wasn’t enough time to recover so late in the game.

The U13s have done the school proud with their performances to reach the final and certainly could not have put in any more effort in the final. This is great experience and still a fantastic achievement to finish 2nd in a very competitive county for football. Next year girls!!

Player of the match – The Whole Team!

Netball

Year 7 Tournament

Congratulations to our Year 7 netball teams who both competed in the district tournament this week. The standard of netball was impressive, yet both teams remained undefeated all evening, making them winners of both the A and B team tournaments! Congratulations to both teams on becoming Year 7 District Netball Champions!!

POTT for the A team was Tami Ojo and POTT for the B team was Emmeline Lynch.

Well done to all involved – a great team effort!

Year 8 Tournament

Well done to our Year 8 netball teams who both competed in the district tournament last week. The B team were winners of their section earning themselves a semi final place. Despite best efforts, Chauncy were able to pull ahead taking the spot in the final.

It was a straight round robin tournament for the A team which meant that every game was a must win… and that they did! Congratulations on retaining your title as District Champions!

Year 10

The Year 10 netball team finished off the season as DISTRICT CHAMPIONS – huge well done for beating Chauncy 34-11! So proud of you all! Player of the match was Darcy Bennett!

Football

Well done to the U13s B team who beat Haileybury College 4-2 in the District Football match.

Presdales played some great football creating lots of chances early in the game, however the Haileybury GK was hard to get past with some great saves. Presdales dominated possession but Haileybury put up a good fight with the match closely contested throughout. With about 10 minutes left the score was 2-2 with both teams missing good chances to take the lead. Presdales then scored twice in quick succession to secure the win 4-2. Goals were scored by Lyla Greenham, AJ Dew, Lola Wood and Ella Reynolds. Haileybury voted Ella Reynolds as their PoM. Joint Coaches PoM were Lyla Greenham and AJ Dew. Well done to all the girls!

Swimming

Amazing performances from the Presdales Swimming team on Friday afternoon. Lots of gold medal performances, both individually and in the team relays! Well done girls!!
