PE Stars of the Month – November
Congratulations to the following students who are our PE Stars of the Month!
Wow, what a match!! This would have done justice to the final of the U13s County Cup, let alone the 1st round and is undoubtedly the most tense and exciting match I’ve been involved in at Presdales (so far)!! Presdales Year 8s were simply outstanding, winning 4-2 on penalties against a very strong St Albans Girls School (STAGS) team on 10th November. The game ended 1-1 after normal time with Presdales having the better chances but unable to turn their superiority into goals. The match went to extra time, with the STAGS goalie making an incredible double save to prevent a winner for Presdales. So, after a hard fought battle, we faced the ‘excitement’ of a penalty shoot out ….. Cara Nolan, who had never played in goal before, was incredible saving two of the first three STAGS penalties! Presdales successfully converted 3 out of 3 so we just needed one more to take the win. Our 4th penalty hit the bar which made it more tense, but the 5th was successful to take the win 4-2.
I’m incredible proud of the entire team. What an amazing effort, with 100% commitment throughout. They never stopped running and competed for every ball like real Lionesses!
It was hard to select the Player of the Match as everyone deserved it, however Amy Little just edged it with an incredible performance in central defence. Well done girls, so proud of you all!!
This week, the Year 8 football team beat Broxbourne 5-0 in the District League. It was a quite hideous evening, cold with heavy rain pouring down. The girls coped with the conditions well and secured a convincing win. Player of the Match voted by Broxbourne was Mia Schillaci-Rowland and Coach’s Player of the Match went to Sienna Goodfellow. Great win girls!
Convincing win for our U16s football team beating Marlborough School 10-1 in the County cup. Some great individual performances and lovely team play with crisp interchanges and incisive passing. Player of the Match and Coaches Player of the Match was Amber Leighton who was outstanding throughout and scored a hat-trick. Well done girls, onto the next round!
Well done to the Year 7 Football team who won 9-1 against John Warner in the District League last week, the first time Presdales has competed in this competition. Fantastic performance from the girls playing some lovely flowing football and scoring some great goals.
Joint Players of the Match as voted by John Warner were Ava M and Liv W. The Coaches Player of the Match was Sienna R who scored a hat trick, but the entire team was fantastic. Well done girls!
Last week the senior netball team played against Broxbourne in a friendly match. Despite some excellent team work and determination they lost 30-14 with all of them playing the whole game due to a lack of subs!
Unlucky girls but you should keep your heads held high! Star player as voted for by Broxbourne was Jess Ward!
Well done to the Year 7’s who also played netball against Broxbourne last week. The red team were up against a tough Broxbourne A team and lost 14-0. There was some good play in the mid court, but unfortunately their defence did a great job of keeping us out. Star Player was Ella Coffey.
The blue team had a very close game and narrowly lost 8-6. The girls played very well for a first match together. Star Player was Nancy Parman-Gavin.
Well done to all of the girls who played!
Well done to our Year 10 netball team who played a friendly match against Broxbourne on Wednesday. They won 39-10! Star Player was Lucy White.
Well done to our Year 8 netball teams who also played against Broxbourne on Wednesday.
The Year 8A team were playing the quarter final round of the county cup. They worked hard to come back after being down to beat Broxbourne 30-17! Star player was Georgia Wittey. Congratulations girls you are now through to the semi finals!!
The Year 8B team played a friendly match and won very convincingly 39-3. Star player was Julia Dodd.
Well done to the U14 and U16 Badminton teams who played in the first round of the County’s last week.
The U14s played some great games but came in second and the U16 won so will be heading to the County Finals at Hatfield Sports Village in December.
CONGRATULATIONS to the U16 Table Tennis team who have made it to the County finals on Monday 28th November!! Well played and GOOD LUCK Monday!
On 28th October at Bury Farm in Bedfordshire it was the turn of one of the newest members to join the Presdales Equestrian team, Jess Pierce, to take part in the National Schools Equestrian Association County Dressage qualifier. Jess and the lovely pony Henley took part in their first preliminary dressage test and Henley’s very first show. They did a great job of coming a very admirable 12th amongst some very stiff competition. The smile on Jess’ face and also Henley’s says it all! Well done to you both and we look forward to seeing you in action again!
Congratulations to the U13 Table Tennis team who beat Simon Balle last night in the first round of the Schools Games. They will go through to the County finals at the end of the month!
Well done to all who participated in the Cross Country Champs on Wednesday!! We won all team events! Star performer was Martha Ker who won her race but amazing effort from all of you!
In October, our U13s played in the first round of the In2Hockey National Championships. The girls played some amazing hockey winning all their pool games finishing in top position. Scores:
Haileybury – won 3-0
RMS – won 2-0
St Ed’s – won 3-0
Heathmount – won 4-0
This meant we played Queenswood in the semi final. We went 1-0 down but very quickly pulled it back to 1-1. We kept pressuring but unfortunately the full time whistle went. Penalty flicks it was!!!! – and a first time experience for some!
Unfortunately, we lost out 3-5 meaning Queenswood went on to the final to play against Haileybury. Queenswood ended up winning on penalty flicks again!
Well done to the U13 Hockey team who played at an U13 Hockey Festival at Queenswood on Wednesday. Some great hockey was played by all! Scores were:-
Coopers – lost 2-1
Queenswood – drew 0-0
Coopers B – won 3-0
Queenswood B – won 5-0
Rms – won 4-2
DAO – won 3-0
Star player in the tournament for effort and determination during the match – Esmee B.
Well done to the Year 9 and 10’s who played Chauncey last week. We played a mixture of teams and the girls played versatility netball by playing all kinds of positions. Both teams played exceptionally and won all of their quarters. Well done to all of those involved!
Well done to the Year 8 Red and Blue netball teams who played against Simon Balle on Monday in difficult weather conditions. The Red team lost 21-12, with a strong 3rd quarter. Star Player was Sofia Smith.
The Blue team won 3-1 and their Star Player was Poppy Saunders.
Thank you also to Evie Macrae in Year 10 who umpired the Blue team game for us.
Sorry no picture due to the driving rain!
Well done to the Year 8 A and B netball teams who made the journey across the county to Rickmansworth on Tuesday to face Royal Masonic in the first round of the County Cup and a friendly respectively.
The A team dominated from the first quarter with some lovely interplay and the team linking beautifully together from defence through to attack. The domination continued and the girls came out 30-5 winners and are through to round 2! Star Player was Sienna Goodfellow.
The B team had a slightly tighter game with lots of play and turnovers in the centre court. But with persistence and some great teamwork and determination the girls came out on top 8-4. Star Player was Jemima Spowart.
Well done to all of the girls!
Congratulations to all of the girls who took part in the 2nd District cross country league race at Simon Balle. All of the girls did exceptionally well but special mention to:

The District Champs are being held in November, we look forward to seeing all of the girls running again and to more success!
Well done to the Presdales U16s County Football Team who beat Croxley Danes 9-0 last week. It was a dominant performance and a great start in the competition.
Highlights from the goals were a brilliant solo run from Eva Delaney where she dribbled past 3-4 players and coolly finished into the corner and quite an astonishing free kick from the half way line by Rimini Lowe which soared into the top of the net. The Croxley Dane supporters were heard to say ‘that was the best goal that’s ever been scored on this pitch!!’. There were a lot of gasps and open mouths!
Tonye Ikeyina was voted POM by Croxley Danes. Coaches POTM was Eva Delaney who was outstanding throughout. Well done girls and onwards to the next round!
Great performance by the Year 8s winning 6-1 in the District Football League against Chauncy this week. This is the first time that Presdales has competed in this competition and the girls thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
In a closely contested first half, Presdales were a little fortunate to go in at half time 3-1 up, however they dominated the second half and added a further 3 goals without reply.
Fantastic commitment from all the girls. Player of the Match was Mia Schillachi Rowland who scored 2 second half goals and excelled in the centre forward position. The Coaches Player of the Match was Annabel Guy who played a great game and never stopped running the entire match. Well gone to all the girls!
Congratulations to the Year 7’s who took part in the first netball match of the season against Simon Balle. The green team won 19-6 and the yellow team won 15-5. Green team Star Player as voted for by Simon Balle was Lottie Fellows. Yellow team Star Player as voted for by Simon Balle was Georgia Street. Well done to everyone who took part!
Excellent effort from both Year 8 teams this week. It was a combined effort due to Chauncy only having one team. Presdales won 14-3!
Star players were Darcey O’Reilly and Ellie Bradford.
Well played girls! Dresses look fab!
Well done to both the U14 and U16 netball teams who competed last Saturday in the county round of the National Schools Netball Competition!
The U14’s did amazingly in their pool, coming 2nd out of 7 and only losing one game. They unfortunately lost in the semi finals and came in 4th position overall! Star player was Darcy Bennett!
The U16’s were truly incredible. They won every single game in their pool, topping the group. They won 17-11 in the semis which meant they progressed to the finals. They then went on to remain UNDEFEATED all day and won the final 11-3 against Berkhamstead! Star player was Rosie Martin!
This means they are COUNTY CHAMPIONS and will progress through to the regional round in January!
Girls we are soo proud of you all! It was a long day but you were a credit to the school and a pleasure to be around!
Massive well done to the U16 hockey team who came 3rd in the County Cup round hosted by Haileybury. They started off with an excellent first game against Haileybury, losing 1-0 by a very unlucky deflection from a short corner that lobbed all players including the keeper! Well played girls, you were very unlucky not to be in top 2!
Fantastic effort from all our cross country runners last week! So many great individual efforts with Ava McManus coming 1st in Year 7. Special mention to Olly Hobdell in Year 12 for the first boy to run for Presdales! As a team our Year 10-13 team smashed it placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th:
Lotty Hobson
Molly Barnard
Martha Ker
Jess Downing
Well done to our senior netball teams who both won their games against Richard Hale sixth form on Monday! The Year 11 team won 23-20 and the Year 12/13 team won 36-13!
Excellent efforts from all involved and a great way to start the season!
Congratulations and well done to the Presdales Equestrians who were out again last weekend at Brook Farm competing in show jumping, they did not disappoint. A team of Ruby Robinson, Ellen Beesley and a new member, Christina Feltham, came an amazing first in the 80/85 cm class, with a great individual 4th for Ruby in the same class. Ellen came into her own in the 70/75cm class and taking the top spot too, well done her. Really well done to them all and brilliant riding. Looking forward to the next date!
The Year 7 v Year 8 annual Football Challenge match took place on Wednesday and what a fantastic event! We had over 50 girls competing, which is an indication of the growth of football for girls. The quality of football was outstanding! As expected, it was was very competitive with every goal celebrated like it was the World Cup Final!
Year 7 (Team 1) were victorious beating Year 8 (Team 1) by 4-1. They came back from 0-1 down and scored 3 goals in the second half to take the game away from the Year 8s. The match was very closely contested and the final score probably doesn’t reflect how even it was.
In the Team 2 matches, Year 7 came back from 0-2 down equalising just before the final whistle! The girls wanted to do penalties to decide the result with Year 8 triumphant winning 3-2 on penalties.
Well done to all the girls who played. It was wonderful to watch and the games were played in a great spirit. I’m looking forward to next year already!
Well done to all our girls who gave their all in the Year 7 mob race last week. We won the team event and some individual star performances from Ava McManus (2nd), Sienna Rowley (3rd), Miley Travi (5th) and Liv White (6th). Bring on the Cross Country league!
