Well done to all of our Year 7 German and Spanish students, who have taken part in the Spelling Bee competition this year. The competition is in 4 stages and began back in October 2020. Students had to learn the meaning of words in the target language and then spell them using the German or Spanish alphabet. This was not easy and they showed real resilience and self-reliance to continue learning their words during periods of lockdown. Stage 1: Class Competition: 50 words Special congratulations to Lisa Prane and Charlotte Martin, who did so well in the Regional Competition for German and Chloe Cooper in Spanish, that they now have a place in the National Competition. They have more words to learn and the weekly practice at registration with our sixth form A Level Linguists is about to start again! Well done girls! We are very proud of you! We wish you well for the next stage!Year 7 Spelling Bee Competition 2021

Congratulations to Ruby Cain, Year 12, who has won the above national competition in the 16-18 category. The topic this year was ‘The Alps’.
“Alpentourismus vs. Naturschutz“. She had to plan a conference for 16-18 year olds including the advertisement and programme with keynote lectures and topics for roundtable discussion.
The judges were extremely impressed with her entry and more information can be found here.
