U13 Handball Regional Champions!!
Huge congratulations to our Year 8’s who won their group last week, not losing a game! They faced Herts and Essex in the semi-final, winning 4-2 securing our place at the National Finals in June. In the final, the girls then won 2-0 against Northampton School for Girls to become Regional Champions! The girls were brilliant all day, with a long journey to Nottingham and back! You were all amazing but player of the tournament was Lilianna Sopala. Bring on the Nationals!!

It was a case of ‘so near yet so far’ for the U13s Football team last week losing 2-3 in the County Cup Final to Parmiters. Presdales dominated possession and created a lot of chances. We could have potentially been 3-0 after 20 minutes, but found ourselves 1-0 down to a goal which came from a long kick out from the Parmiters GK and bounced over our defence. It was clear that Parmiters tactics was to pack their defence, sit deep and then hit long balls to their dangerous centre forward. This made it difficult to break them down but the girls responded well with Liv White scoring two exceptional goals to go into half time 2-1 ahead. The first goal came from a beautiful pass from Ava Mcmanus which took out the Parmiters defence with Liv taking it on her chest, swivelling and hitting it in one seamless movement.
In the second half, Presdales enjoyed total control for the first 15 minutes, but couldn’t find the back of the net to make the game more comfortable. Unfortunately, Parmiters then equalised from another long ball to their Centre Forward who drove through our defence and scored at the near post. With the game finely balanced and approaching the final 10 minutes, Presdales missed a couple of good chances including one which hit the underside of the bar, bounced down but was judged not to have gone fully over the line. With only two minutes remaining, another long ball over our defence found their striker who battled her way past some valiant defence. Her shot was initially well saved by Liv Beswick but fortuitously rebounded back out and the striker managed to finish it off at the second attempt. The girls never stopped trying until the final whistle blew but ultimately there just wasn’t enough time to recover so late in the game.
The U13s have done the school proud with their performances to reach the final and certainly could not have put in any more effort in the final. This is great experience and still a fantastic achievement to finish 2nd in a very competitive county for football. Next year girls!!
