From 21st to 23rd October, 179 of our Year 7 students took part in the PGL Mathematics and Adventure Activities trip to Little Canada on the Isle of Wight. Set in 48 acres of woodland on the banks of Wootton Creek, locations don’t come much better than this and the accommodation, log cabins which sleep 8-10 girls with their own bathrooms, was lovely. Although we were only there for 3 days, each one was filled with many fun activities. We had an early start on the first day but this meant that we could start on our first activity straight after lunch. The dining room had a range of different and nutritious hot food to suit all appetites and there was unlimited access to the salad bar, bread basket and fruit. The buffet style restaurant meant the girls could ‘mix and match’ the items they liked the most. The PGL activities challenged the girls and, hopefully, left them feeling more confident. We collected data from the Archery session and we timed lots of activities – climbing up the Vertical Challenge and the Trapeze, and both up and down the Abseiling Tower! Every single girl thoroughly deserved her R1 for a great attitude and resilience on all activities, whilst some got a special mention for additional excellent qualities. The PGL staff made the whole experience such fun and our teachers were fabulous group leaders, supporting and encouraging the girls every step of the way. Grateful thanks to all of them. This was a really successful trip and hopefully the girls will have many happy memories. Mrs Share and Mrs Rugg-Gunn
