PressTales 15 November 2019

Dear Parents/Carers,

As many of you will know, our school charity for last year was Fanconi Hope. The students wanted to support this charity in memory of Sabrina Foufa, one of our students who sadly passed away in April 2018. I was immensely proud of our students as they handed over a cheque for nearly £10,000, the most the charity has ever received from a school. If any of you would like to find out more about Fanconi Hope, then please visit their website https://www.fanconihope.org/. Our new school charity for this coming year is ‘World Vision’, which is an international children’s charity.

Last night, we welcomed many students from Presdales and other local schools to our Sixth Form open evening. It was a pleasure to see so many young people finding out about the 28 subjects that we offer in the Sixth Form. I would like to thank the Sixth Form team and our staff for the time they put in to prepare and deliver this event.

This morning, our Year 8 students have been in Careers sessions in the Design and Technology department. We are grateful to those parents and guests who came in to present to the girls. Sessions delivered included: Fashion, Lighting Design, Shoe and Textiles Design, Food, Interior Design, Product Engineering and Product Design.

Our annual Christmas Fayre takes place on Friday 29th November, starting at 3.45pm. Hopefully, by now, your child will have brought home raffle tickets. We kindly ask for your support in selling the raffle tickets to family and friends. Our PTA organises this event and all of the money raised is spent on enhancing the educational experience of our students. We are extremely grateful to the PTA who have recently donated £10,000 towards 60 chrome books and two large computer trolleys. We are aiming to put a full set of chrome books in every department, and this has been a welcome start to that project. Your support in buying or selling the raffle tickets or attending the event would be appreciated.

Finally, I have been asked to pass on a message from Hertford Rugby club. You will be aware that they kindly let Presdales Sixth form students to park on their grounds during the school day as well as allowing parents to pick up their children after school. They have raised concerns about the increasing number of drivers who are not adhering to the speed limits in place on their grounds and have asked us to remind you that parents can only pick up in the front car park. Due to the school buses on site at the end of the day, we need the rugby clubs continued support in allowing parents to pick up. I respectfully ask that all parents adhere to the speed limits that are in place. Thank you for your support in this matter.

Regards,

Matt Warren

Our school trip to Russia took place from October 24th to 29th, 2019. Firstly, we got to Moscow after a day’s worth of travelling. It was a beautiful and unique place to visit - truly unlike any major European city and filled with different ages of architecture. Whilst there, we visited numerous amazing places such as a school, in which …
