PressTales 11 October 2019

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you to those who were able to complete the online questionnaires following our recent information evenings. Heads of Year have been responding to parents where appropriate to answer specific concerns raised. Information has already been shared with our Governing Body, and we will be sharing details of the outcomes with parents soon. Thank you for the overwhelmingly positive feedback, as well as the honest and fair points for us to consider.

Last week we had a two-day visit from the Army, working with our Year 7 students on team building and other activities. More information will be shared in the next edition of PressTales.

On Tuesday of this week, all of Year 9 took part in a 'Learn to Earn' day, which was organised by Young Enterprise. One of the exercises had the girls compiling a budget for themselves, and then working out how much they needed to earn to cover that budget. Many of the girls needed to earn in excess of £250,000 to fund their desired lifestyle. The exercise was a reality check for many. When I asked one student what job she was going to do to earn that money replied, 'I could become a Headteacher!' 'If only' was my reply.

Next Thursday is our secondary transfer evening, one of the most important events in our school calendar. Over the past number of weeks we have been providing tours in school time for prospective students. A reminder that school will close on Thursday at 12.45 pm. We will be closed on Friday 18th October. All of the students are expected to assist on secondary transfer evening and we thank you for your support in ensuring that the students are here. Please can I ask that you drop students off outside the school and ask them to walk onto the school site as parking will be very busy. Please be advised that we are still getting complaints from our local residents about how parents are parking at the end of the school day. The rugby club is available for parents to wait for their children.

Regards,

Matt Warren
