PGL Mathematics and Adventure Activities trip
Friday, 09 March 2018
From 7th to 9th March, Year 7 students took part in the PGL Mathematics and Adventure Activities trip to Little Canada on the Isle of Wight. Set in 48 acres of woodland on the banks of Wootton Creek, locations don’t come much better than this and the log cabin accommodation, which sleep 8-10 girls with their own bathrooms, were lovely.
‘I loved Jacobs Ladder as it required teamwork to get up and it was fun being with my friends’
Although we were only there for 3 days, each one was filled with many fun activities.
‘I loved the trip even though it was very cold. The Giant Swing was fun and felt like a rollercoaster when you were dropped’
We had an early start on the first day but this meant that we could start on our first activity straight after lunch.
‘PGL was the best trip this year. Giant Swing was scary at the start but was so cool and really good fun’
The dining room had a range of different and nutritious hot food to suit all appetites and there was unlimited access to the salad bar, bread basket and fruit. The buffet style restaurant meant the girls could ‘mix and match’ the items they liked the most.
‘I want to thank the instructors who took their time teaching us new skills’
‘I want to thank all the PGL staff for making the trip exciting and enjoyable and the teachers for encouraging and looking after us’
The PGL activities challenged the girls and, hopefully, left them feeling more confident. The Mathematics was completed successfully by the girls and, with luck, they learnt a few new skills along the way.
‘At the end of the trip I surprised myself when I was able to shut my suitcase without any issues’
This was a really successful trip and hopefully the girls will have many happy memories.
