Presdales Speech Day 2016
Monday, 19 December 2016
Governors, staff and parents were pleased and proud to celebrate with our students as they were awarded their GCSE and A level certificates, excellence prizes and special prizes.
Anna Wilson and Esther Gilmor did a wonderful job of leading the proceedings and the whole Senior Student team gave an engaging report of the year across different areas of school life and paying tribute to staff who had retired or moved on last year.
Dr Jill Comfort was our guest and encouraged the students to continue to use their obvious gifts to "spread some glitter" wherever they will have their impact. We also had two further guests who came to represent NADFAS and present the award for our artists whose work was selected for prestigious exhibition in London, first at the Royal Over-Seas League (ROSL) and then at the Mall Galleries.
We enjoyed outstanding musical performances and a few eyes were welling up as the girls hit the high notes of "Oh, holy night".
The programme concluded with an entertaining and inspiring valedictorian given by former Head Girl, Hannah Lynch and Deputy Head Boy, Charlie Walton. Quoting from some of the great leaders of history, it was clear to see that these students and the year group they represented will be wonderful leaders in their generation. They are sure to fulfil Dr Comfort's message and "spread their glitter".
Many thanks to the many, many people who contributed to the day. It was very special to celebrate with our students and lovely to have the opportunity to catch up with all who returned and to hear how they are thriving in the next sparkling chapter of their lives.
