Pathways to the Future Week
Monday, 04 July 2016
Year 10 were preparing for the world of work at Presdales in the week of June 27th – July 1st. Pathways to the Future provided the opportunity for students to meet representatives from a range of companies and organisations, from the Army to the London School of Media Makeup; from Tesco to Tottenham Hotspurs.
The activities offered ranged from self-defence on the field with the Royal Marine Commandos to advice from WENTA on setting up your own business – including practical advice on completing a tax-form.
A representative from the Bank of America encouraged students to look towards the future as he gave top tips on writing a cv. The girls analysed a sample cv identifying strengths and weaknesses in the light of what they had been told and then started work on their own cv. While from MBDA students learnt about apprenticeships and graduate opportunities.
Elsewhere in the week there was a trip to check out the Oxford colleges and a careers carousel session in the hall when local employers generously gave their time to tell small groups of students about their line of work.
