Presdales Dance Evenings 2016

Friday, 29 April 2016

Covers and Remixes was the theme for this year’s Dance Evening at Presdales and it was a theme which lent itself to a wide range of dance styles from tap to ballroom, from ballet to gymnastics.

The dancers were all smiles as they executed complex moves with grace, style and boundless energy. Indeed, the Year 8 gym group had the audience’s hearts in their mouths as Drew Cummins was tossed into the air – and safely caught: a miracle of precision-timing and trust.

Year 7 Dance Club’s lively performance to Dear Future Husband was enhanced by brightly coloured 1950s skirts and scarves while sixth formers Lizzie Withers and Tash Takats worked a bold contrast between beautifully executed Irish dancing and vigorously energetic tap.

Hannah Deeprose was all grace and control as she danced to Calvin Harris’ Outside while Maisie Bentley and Eva Terziyski brought a touch of humour to the production dancing to Singing in the Rain in leotards and plastic raincoats and unfurling huge umbrellas.

The evening finished with the awarding of the Dale Dance Trophy to sixth formers Ella-Mae Brush and Natalie Holdys in appreciation not only of their own dancing but also of time and skills willingly shared with their own dance clubs.
