Year 9 Mock Trial
Saturday, 12 March 2016
A taxi pulls up outside a Fire Station, the passenger gets out and runs towards the main road and the driver chases after her to restrain her. A tussle occurs and the passenger kicks her leg and her shoe flies high into the air. The passenger is arrested for Common Assault. She pleads not guilty. This is the criminal case which the Year 9 Mock Trial Team have been studying since before Christmas. The competition was held at Stevenage Magistrates' Court on Saturday 12th March. The students’ performance was brilliant and they showed immense confidence. Sadly the team will not be going on to the Regional Final as John Lawes School from Harpenden won. But the students and their parents who attended should be very proud of their tremendous efforts. I was assisted in the preparations by Mr Rowley, a school governor and Magistrate, as well as Mr Rankin and Miss Williams who are student teachers.
