Rush Green - Major Bridge Refurbishment Works
Friday, 18 December 2015
As you may or may not be aware, Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) are planning on carrying out major bridge maintenance works at the Rush Green, A10 Interchange near Hertford which may affect you. The works are planned to take place from January 8th 2016 until April 22nd 2016. The scheme will repair defective concrete on both bridges abutments with the installation of a Hybrid Cathodic Protection system, as well as replacing the four expansion joints on the interchange roundabout.
In order for these works to be carried out safely, a 24 hour lane 1 closure throughout the period of the works will be required, in addition to some night closures of the A10.
HCC have advised that a weekend closure will be required on top of each bridge to allow the expansion joints to be replaced. During this time a suitable diversion route will be in place.
These works are likely to cause disruption to those travelling along the A10 and local residents during peak times. In order to reduce this, HCC have planned the following public communication procedures:
· live Twitter and Facebook updates,
· letter drops to local residents and businesses,
· A dedicated web page with FAQs and road closure details,
· Advanced road warning notices on local roads.
The scheme will increase the structures service and will ensure this vital route through Hertfordshire remains fit for purpose.
