GCSE Expressive Arts
Expressive Arts combines Drama, Dance and Art. Students have one lesson per week of each discipline with a specialist teacher, learning skills and techniques and creating projects which combine the art-forms. Assessment begins latterly in Year 10 and continues through Year 11.
The examination comprises 3 units. In each one, the students create and perform a piece involving the 3 art-forms of dance, art and drama; they can include music and/or creative writing if they wish. Unit 1 is a group project; Unit 2 is a solo piece; Unit 3, the final examination, can be either. All of these projects are accompanied by written notebooks, containing ideas, research, sketches and evaluations.
