This course enables students to work on all aspects of Drama:  developing ideas; devising their own pieces, individually and within groups; performing scripted plays; using lighting and sound; designing and using costume, set and make-up.

In Year 10 students undertake various tasks designed to develop their skills and introduce them to a variety of techniques and forms of theatre.  Assessment begins latterly in Year 10 and continues through Year 11.

The examination comprises 3 units.  Unit 1, “From Page to Stage” involves staging and performing an extract from a scripted play; Unit 2, “Drama in the Making” requires the students to devise their own pieces and perform them.  Both of these units are supported by written notebooks.  The final Unit is the examination, where the students can choose to do a devised or a scripted piece.  Again, a written notebook is included.
