Presdales consultation regarding academy status:
At its meeting on Tuesday 22nd November 2011, the Governing Body decided that it should
commence a process with the Department for Education which could result in the school becoming
an Academy.
As part of the decision-making process, the Governing Body would like to consult with parents
formally on any views or questions they may have. This letter is part of a consultation process
which ends on 31st January 2012. Responses must be received by that date and will then be
considered at a meeting of the full Governing Body.

Ski Trip Letters
There are three documents for those going on the ski trip in February - they are:
Bar Mock Trial November 12th 2011
The Bar Mock Trial is a National Competition organised by the Citizenship Foundation of Great Britain in conjuction with the Bar Council.
Sixteen teams of students compete at sixteen Crown Courts around the country and the winners go to the final at the Old Bailey in March 2012.
The students study two criminal cases and take the roles of Barrister, Court Clerk, Usher, Witnesses and Jury members. One school takes the Prosecution role and the other the Defence role. A Barrister acts as the Judge and the students are graded on their ability to speak with authority and spontaneity.
The Presdales team travelled to Chemsford Crown Court on Saturday 12th November. They had worked hard on their cases and hopes were high.
Although we were not the winning team, which was Westbeech Academy from Dover, the girls had a very enjoyable day and learned a great deal about the criminal justice system.
Ofsted Letter
We are pleased to inform parents that Ofsted has deemed that, since our last inspection in 2008, our outstanding performance has been sustained and that we are no longer subject to routine inspection.

Sixth Form Admission 2012
Our Sixth Form Open Evening was held on Thursday 3rd November.
We welcomed our current Year 11 students and any Year 11 students form other schools who came along to find out more about our friendly Sixth Form.

Once again, Presdales School pupils have achieved fantastic results:
A2 results rose by 13% to a new record for the school, of 67% of Y13 achieving A*, A or B grades.
AS results were equally impressive, with 66% achieving C or above.
GCSE results were great, with 90% of the girls achieving A*-C including English and Maths, 5% above our target.

Our school is a five-form entry all-ability school for girls aged from 11 to 18. Founded as Ware Grammar School for Girls in 1906 on the Amwell House site, we moved to our present site at Presdales in 1964. Our Language College status, which was granted by the Secretary of State for Education and Skills in 1995, enables us to offer a much wider range of languages whilst still ensuring that a broad and balanced curriculum is maintained. CLOSING THE SCHOOL DUE TO BAD WEATHER
In the event of extreme weather conditions it may be necessary for the school to be closed. If this is the case, the Head will contact local radio stations so that staff and pupils can be informed.
